The Standard: What Do Your Goals Say About You?

KandL Coaching Notes/Focus/The Standard: What Do Your Goals Say About You?

Your goals reflect your view of life.

Personal growth and seeking more from life is a relentless pursuit. There is no end as the only "end" is death (that got morbid real quick!).

Yet it's the truth. The only time you will ever be done growing and learning in your relationships, about yourself, about your work will be when you can no longer go.

Or...

When you choose to stop and stay stagnant.

But how do you know where you're at? Growing vs. being stagnant?

It's in your goals.

Your goals are a reflection of your deepest desires. I don't mean the goals that you tell your friends as you mention in passing as a "nice to have" or "what's expected of you."

How many times have you said,
"I'd like a better job with benefits and a fat salary..."
"I want to have a 6 pack..."
"I just want someone to go watch movies with..."

What are your real goals?
The goals you aren't sharing with your friends and family out of fear of being judged?

Everyone wants more money.
Everyone wants a sexy body.
Everyone wants someone to share life with.

Nothing wrong with any of those goals, they just aren't "you."

If you saw yourself from the perspective that you can achieve anything, would you be too embarrassed to express your deepest desires and dreams and goals?

Do you just want money or do you want to make an impact in millions of lives through a nonprofit which requires money?

Do you just want abs or do you want to be able to take your shirt off at the beach rather than keep it on because you're afraid to be made fun of?

Do you want a bed buddy or do you want to live life with someone as you travel and experience the world together?

Or are these goals so beyond your current perspective that you're unwilling to say them out loud because you believe that you will never actually achieve them?

Does that scare you? It should.

Your goals serve as the pit or peak that your soul is seeking. Yes, you can be seeking the pits and the negative in life just as you seek the peaks and positive in life - that's a topic for another day.

They are not just lofty "I wanT To BE a tRilliONaIre bY 29!" goals. Your goals are your life aspirations. They are reflections of your deepest convictions. The standards for your life. The unyielding perspective you hold of yourself.

Let me paint you a picture: your goals are not just destinations - they are your declaration of war against mediocrity. They are battle cries that echo through the corridors of your soul, challenging you to rise above the mundane and embrace the extraordinary.

The truth remains that setting high standards for your goals is not for the faint of heart. It requires courage, tenacity, and an unwavering belief in your own potential. It's about standing firm in the face of adversity and refusing to settle for anything less than greatness.

You may have been cowering when asked, "what do you want in life?" afraid to actually say it and ask for it. You get in life what you're willing to ask for.

Want a raise? You've got to ask for it.
Want that date? You've got to ask her/him.
Want that coffee? You've got to order it.

Sure, you can wait for your boss to come to you, wait for that girl or guy to send you their number written on golden parchment paper in the arms of a bald eagle, or for someone to magically drop coffee off at your desk.

Though why not get around the waiting and disappointment and just ask for whatever your "it" is? You wait because you're not actually sure of yourself and your goals. This is exactly why you struggle to speak about it or ask for it.

Amidst the chaos of life, it's easy to lose sight of your goals, to let them fade into the background as you navigate the challenges of our daily existence, societal expectations, and begin seen as "normal."

"Normal" is to dream of winning the lottery.
"What?? You're crazy to start a business in this economy!" is what you'll hear when you mention anything that goes against the expectations others have set for your life.

Act as the 99% and you'll get what the 99% get.
Want the 1% life? Act like you earned the 1%.

I urge you to hold fast to your vision, to keep your goals front and center in your mind, and to let them guide you on your journey to greatness. Everything amazing you experience and enjoy in this life started as a dream.

Because here's the thing: when you commit to your goals with unwavering determination, you not only transform your life, but you also transform yourself. As you transform yourself, those around you will be inspired to act on their own goals and as they succeed along with you, imagine all the things you can create together.

You are the architect of your destiny. You drive your path to your future. It's up to you to become the embodiment of everything you want.

I challenge you to embrace your goals with ferocity and ambition. That alone will set you light years ahead of your competition. Set your sights high, raise your standards, and let your goals be a testament to the limitless potential that lies within you. Remember that greatness is not a destination. It's a journey that begins with a single step towards your goals.

To the light inside you,
